Cambria Harris鈥 mother Morgan was one of four indigenous women killed by an alleged serial killer in Canada. Their remains are thought to be in landfill sites. Now the force of her grief is compelling a nation to act.
Cambria and her mother had a strong bond, even through the years when Morgan struggled with addiction and lived on the streets. And during Cambria鈥檚 time in care.
In 2022 Morgan Harris was reported missing and her family began to search. Later that year the police told Cambria that they believed her mother had been killed. Another life lost amidst a national crisis of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls.
Our reporter Brandi Morin is Cree, Iroquois, French Canadian and she became a journalist to put the the stories of indigenous people in聽Canada聽front and centre. Brandi travelled to Winnipeg to meet 22-year-old Cambria and hear how all this has reset the course of her young life.
The song featured in this programme is by Fawn Wood, it is called Remember Me (feat. Randy Wood & R. Carlos Nakai), from the album Kik膩wiynaw.
