16th February 2006
Smoosh Rob da Bank first started playing Smoosh tracks last year from their first album She Like Electric. This week we are very happy to have the girls in session at Maida Vale.
Smoosh are an American indie pop duo. Asya is 13 and sings and plays keys, her sister Chloe is 12, she听drums and sings backing vocals.
She Like Electric was released in 2004. They wrote the whole album, many of the songs coming from Asya's poetry book.听 Smoosh's next album is scheduled to come out in June 2006. Smoosh are now signed to Seattle-based label Pattern 25.
How did this all happen for ones so young I hear you ask? Smoosh got started in 2000. Chloes drum teacher offered to help them both after hearing their songs.
We've heard them compared to Tori Amos and PJ Harvey. They have warmed up for as Cat Power, Nada Surf, Sufjan Stevens and they were fresh from playing with The Go! Team when we met them at Maida Vale.
They are taking the whole thing in their stride听and having fun on the way. OneMusic had a giggle and a chat with them about clothes and girlie stuff as they tapped their tiny toes and听listened back to the session tracks.
