Where I Play:
I still like playing music as part of a large band but I don't get much chance here in Britain because I play on my own now. I love playing the guitar as well, but that is difficult because I do not own one! But the sitar is a timid instrument. Its voice cannot be heard well out of doors, so I prefer indoor venues among the Iraqi communities or private gathering for friends.
There are a lot of Iranians out of our country and I like to sing Iranian songs for those who miss Iran. It is not happy music that is going to cheer everyone up, but it reflects the sadness that people feel when missing their country. Now I am here I would like to play my setar for English people more. I don't think that they know of the instrument nor have they heard of the tradition of music. I really love it when they listen and seem to really enjoy what they hear.
