A favourite song:

This piece of traditional Chinese music is my favourite because I love the Lotus, which is a very beautiful and elegant flower. The song is very old and I believe it dates back 800 years. It is a Hakka-style piece from the north of China, written to be performed in the royal palace. Eventually the Hakka influence spread south, taking with it this kind of traditional music, which had great prestige.

The song reflects how some people are like the Lotus flower. It is pretty and strong and stands alone with its head held high above the muddy water. The moral is that you can rise up above the muddy waters of wrong doing that surround you and stand tall showing true virtue and integrity.
