听听Listen (3'25) to Solomon & Socalled perform 'Electro Taxim' from 'Hiphopkhasene' (Piranha CD-PIRI1789)
Where I play:
Oi Va Voi keep it real! We still play a lot at Jewish weddings鈥aybe 30% of our gigs. And then we do a lot of International Festivals and clubs as well: We鈥檝e just played a speed garage night in Amsterdam and we regularly play London club venues like ICA, Cargo, 93Feet East and so on.
I鈥檓 also playing quite a lot of gigs with the Solomon & Socalled HipHopKhasene project. We premiered it in New York last March at the Centre for Jewish History and we鈥檙e playing at the Jewish Festival in Krakow in July. I鈥檝e also been playing occasionally in a duo with the Tunisian oud and laptop player Smadj, exploring Turkish and North African rhythms and melodies, which has been really interesting as well.
But my real passion at the moment has been the electro-acoustic-classical composition I鈥檝e been creating around my (late) uncle鈥檚 vocals, Feter Chaim Moyshe, which I hope will have performance life after its March premiere at Trinity College of Music, because I wrote it with Alan Bern and David Krakauer in mind, but they couldn鈥檛 be around for that date. But we鈥檒l just have to see where all that takes me.
