Where I Play:

I'm part of a group called 'The Samsonelles' and we play mainly in Belfast and anywhere they'll have us really. We all bring our respective cultures and interpretations to the music and luckily people really like it.

I've often played at Irish traditional sessions. I bought a bodhran and joined in but it's not really my style of music. I prefer the Latin mix. Connor Ward, the sax player in 'The Samsonelles' and I regularly jam along with the djs in a few clubs around Belfast. 'Milk' and 'Bar Red' are the current hotspots. We get to create a kind of mellow house music. I really love that.

Vicente

Last year the band got to play in Romania. We were treated like stars and it was riveting to play for all these people who experience huge difficulties in their daily survival. I've brilliant memories and full respect for the Romanians. In fact I've now got a Romanian name, 'Zahartos' which has a real ring to it. It actually just means 'sugar' but that's my preferred moniker these days.

I don't really regard myself as a musician but all these great musicians want me to play with them so I'm really chuffed. I've always been lucky in what I do. It's like winning The Lotto every day.
