Venue Music Review
The Old Pier Pub
Bath Street
Edinburgh

every Thursday night
Folk My brother bought me a Clancy Brothers record when I was about 12, and from there I started listening to folk music like the Chieftains, Planxty and Dick Gaughan. Nowadays I play tin whistle in a session at the Old Pier Pub every Thursday night. You'll find folk from 15 to 50 and beyond. (anon)

Sandy Bells
Forrest Road
(Near the old Royal Infirmary)
Edinburgh
Scottish folk Sandy Bells is an Edinburgh Folk institution. Folk music, mostly Scottish, has been played here since the '40s.Sessions every night of the week; particularly busy at weekends but good sessions every night. Emphasis very much on the Edinburgh scene, with an emphasis on tunes but jazzed up in the Edinburgh fashion. Local musicians who travel the world and visitors from the world who enter a local.Good atmosphere unless you don't like cigaterette smoke. Formerly Hamish Henderson's local, a bust views the pub from above.. (Angus Millar)
