Alice, The Maid of Ambridge
by Hot Cross Nun
The Fantasy Archers topic of has had an attack of the McGonagalls...
Down by the river Am with its fast-flowing water,
Oft times Alice Aldridge met her own dear Christopher Carter,
In the sweet summer time of the year,
In the silvery moonlight so clear,
She rambled with her sweetheart Christopher Carter
Along the green banks of the Am with its fast-flowing water.
Christopher Carter was beautiful, gallant, and not gay,
And one day, he and Alice Aldridge decided to go far away,
To that foreign country called Amerikay,
With no thought in their heads of getting married, no, no way,
Before coming home again to the banks of the Am with its fast-flowing water,
Alice Aldridge and her sweetheart, charming Christopher Carter.
But after Alice and Christopher landed in Amerikay,
They did something that caused Alice's mother a great deal of dismay,
In Las Vegas they got married without delay,
And when Jennifer Aldridge heard about it, she nearly fainted away,
So mothers beware of such men as Christopher Carter,
If you are hoping someone much more socially acceptable will marry your daughter.
