Mitterand Film
A film about the French President Mitterand, who died in 1996, opens in Paris tomorrow. It’s the first time a modern-day French leader has been portrayed on film because of the strict French privacy laws. Le Promeneur du Champ-du-Mars was made against the wishes of Miterrand’s family and supporters and certain scenes have had to be cut. Caroline Wyatt reports on the film and the fuss it has caused.

EastEnders at 20
The ´óÏó´«Ã½ Soap Opera celebrates its 20th birthday this week, but in the last few months it has been in trouble. Mal Young, Head of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Drama Series until recently, and Jean Seaton, who is chairing a conference about EastEnders at the University of Westminster, discussed the life-expectancy of EastEnders.

Kinsey on page and screen
Sarah Dunant reviews the film Kinsey starring Liam Neeson and T C Boyle’s novel The Inner Circle based on Kinsey and his group of followers.

Kinsey opens on March 4, Certificate 15.
The Inner Circle by T C Boyle is published by Bloomsbury this week.

Passing the Baton
A new exhibition at London’s Design Museum features a collection of conductor’s batons created by forty international designers. The conductor and music writer Jeremy Summerly went to try out some of the batons.

Passing The Baton – Reinventing the Conductor’s Baton is at The Design Museum in London until April 25.
