first visited the region as teenage Kibbutz volunteer.听 He is currently The Times Middle East Correspondent and author of The Spiders of Allah, an account of his travels in the Arab world. James has an extensive knowledge of the Middle East- in particular Israel, Syria, Jordan and Egypt; although very fond of Jerusalem, James has a particular love for Damascus as a cradle of civilisation, filled with history.听 He shares his experience of travelling in places that excite strong opinion and are, on occasion, dangerous.
