When you ask young people what they're interested in, music is usually at the top of the list. But is music education giving our children what they need or what they want? One year ago the Music Manifesto was launched. Has this made any difference?

MUSIC EDUCATION AND THE MUSIC MANIFESTO
Music is a national curriculum subject and from the ages of 5 -14, every child is required and entitled to music at school. The state of music education has been criticised for a long time. However, a year ago, the was launched with the challenge of engaging more young people in music and improving standards and accessibility to music education across England.

In a special programme, music journalist听 finds out if the Music Manifesto has made any difference to music education. People who make their living from music speak about what they think children should be taught in music in school and young people tell us about their music education experiences.

Guests include: Music Manifesto Champion Marc Jaffrey; Neil Hoyle,听Chief Executive听of the ; Colin Brackley Jones, Chief Executive of the ; Alison Tickell from and also the Music Industry Skills Director of the new ; and Allan Dumbreck, Editor of the .
