HENRY MARSH Henry Marsh is a neurosurgeon. He is the subject of a new documentary, The English Surgeon, in which he wrestles with the dilemmas of the doctor/patient relationship. Shot in London and a Ukranian hospital, it traces Henry鈥檚 own emotional journey to visit the mother of a young girl he tried to save years before, intercut with the story of Marian, a young man who is dying of a brain tumour said to be inoperable in the Ukraine. The English Surgeon on 大象传媒 2 at 10.45pm on 30th March as part of the 大象传媒 Storyville strand.
YASMIN HAI
Yasmin Hai is a journalist. Her book The Making of Mr Hai's Daughter: Becoming British tells of her father's arrival in London in 1964 from Pakistan and how he put his family on the road to assimilation with his daughter Yasmin becoming his star pupil. The Making of Mr Hai's Daughter is published by Little Brown and is Radio 4's听 from 31st March.
ADAM OCKELFORD
Adam Ockelford is Professor of Music at Roehampton University. In his book 听he tells the story of Derek, a boy who is blind and severely autistic, but has an extremely rare gift - he is a musical prodigy. Adam became his teacher. In the Key of Genius: the Extraordinary Life of Derek Paravicini (paperback) is published by Arrow Books.
CAMILLE O'SULLIVAN 听is a former architect turned singer and actress. Described by critics as a 'cross between Sally Bowles, Patti Smith and P-J Harvey', she is making her London debut with her show La Fille Du Cirque is at the Bloomsbury Theatre, 15 Gordon Street, London WC1 on 27th March, 7.30pm.
