TONY FOSTER
Ìýis the landscape artist. Both an artist and explorer, he spends months at a time in the field, in search of the perfect viewpoint from canyons and volcanoes to icebergs and deserts. HisÌýlatest exhibition Searching for the Bigger Subject: Watercolour Diaries from Everest and the Grand Canyon is at the , Bankside Gallery, 48 Hopton Street, London SE1 until 20th July. ItÌýcoincides with the publication of Painting At the Edge of the World: The Watercolours of Tony Foster by Washington University Press.ÌýÌýÌýPainting Everest: an illustrated lecture is onÌý17th July at 6.30pmÌýat Bankside Gallery.Ìý Free Admission.

SAMSON KAMBALU
Samson Kambalu is a conceptual artist, born in Malawi. At the centre of his art is the expressionist religious philosophy of ‘’. In his memoir The Jive TalkerÌýhe writes about his childhood in Malawi and how he was influenced by his eccentric father, a Saville Row besuited clinical officer who considered himself something of a philosopher. The Jive Talker or, How to Get a British Passport is published by Jonathan Cape.

AMY LAVERE
Amy Lavere is the double bass playingÌýsinger/songwriter and actress from Memphis. She has been described as a cross between Dolly Parton, Brenda Lee and Nora Jones and in 2007 received a nomination from the American Music Association for best New and Emerging Artist. Her new album Anchors and Anvils is out on Archer Records. She is appearing at Camden’s Green Note on 10th July.

ANGUS BELL
Ìýis a writer, who for his new book, Batting on the BosphorusÌýsets off on an 8,000 mile road trip across Eastern Europe in search of a cricket match. He comes across fingerless fielders in the Czech Republic, Serbian MI6 Agents, and the realisation that England's most eccentric game is played with passion in the strangest corners of the continent. Batting on the Bosphorus: A Skoda-powered cricket tour through Eastern Europe is published by Canongate.Ìý It will be the Radio 4 Book of the Week from 21st - 25th July.
