In the company of two local fishermen, Clare discovers why this beautiful part of the country is an ideal area for holiday walking.
is a small village in County Sligo, Ireland. It鈥檚 skyline is dominated by the mountain Benbulben characterised by a table top shape.
Lord Mountbatten used to holiday here, and this was where he was assassinated in August 1979. He along with The Dowager Baroness Brabourne, The Hon. Nicholas Knatchbull and local teenager Paul Maxwell were out fishing when they were killed by a bomb planted by the provisional IRA.
Joe Mc Gowan was born in Mullaghmore. He emigrated to the USA before returning to the village thirty years ago. As well as fishing, Joe writes books on the , folklore and history of Mullaghmore.
Keith Clarke has lived and worked in the area all his life. He is a butcher, fisherman and beekeeper.
The walk takes in spectacular views of Mullaghmore Harbour, Benbulbin Mountain, the mystical Irishmurray Island and Classiebawn Castle.听
