Eric was called up at the age of 21 in 1940 and was sent to the Isle of Aldenay to train as a machine gunner.聽 After a spell in France he came back to train at the Military College of Science as a radar mechanic for 8 months.聽 He was then posted to the desert before landing in Italy and it was here that he would carry out a very important job...
