Strange But True
Bridget Cousins e-mailed Home Truths about the coincidences that fill her life...
My closest sister and I often turn up to meet each other wearing the same colour or style of clothes. We even bake the same puddings on the same days. I am the middle child of five, who has three brothers and a sister. I married a middle child of five, who has three brothers and a sister.
But the really good coincidence occurred when my husband
and I went to visit a friend in Lewes. En route, we decided to call in at
a music shop, which specialises in folk instruments and music
(I play Celtic harp and fiddle). I was
amused to notice the shop was in Woodfield Lane (Woodfield's my maiden
name) and said it was an omen...We entered the shop and while my husband went
to drool at the flutes, I asked about harp music.
'That's funny,' said the guy behind the counter,'I have a harp-maker here
in the shop' - and introduced me to the other person in the shop, an
American who was over here on holiday from Minnesota. I told him about my
harp, which was made by my father, and mentioned that he was now making
me another, larger one. He asked my father's name."Oh, you won't know him" I
said "He's really a fiddle maker." But when I told him my father's name, he smiled and said,
"I've just sent him some strings and tuning pins, for his daughter's
harp."
Turns out he knows my dad quite well, through my sister who lives
in Texas and also plays the harp, and visits him occasionally. How come
he was there just at the moment when we walked in ?
