Life After Rejection

This week, an e-mail from a despairing Tim Squires asks John Peel to advise him on the how to deal with the pain of a broken heart...

October 1998. I met a wonderful medical student and life became a vase full of of sunflowers. Old Trafford in the sunshine, champagne and strawberries... yes, life was good as my love and I dance with angels on the head of our own sweet pinnacle.

Then came the last day of April. No phone call. No letter.
No email. No nothing.
No reason why.
No hope.
She "lives" in my flat: her dressing gown on her peg.
Her towel, her mug, her contact lens case, her "smell",
her lotions and potions in the bathroom... she permeates
everything in my home. Only there's no Her
. She
has gone.
Tears? Yes, copious tears.
Emotional angst beyond belief.
Pains that almost matched the pleasures of the
previous two years.
I wrote to her.
I emailed her.
No response.
As if I no longer existed.
So, my appeal to other listeners is simple:
How do I move on?
Friends tell me that "you'll get over it" and
"time is a great healer"... perhaps, but isn't there
a quicker way?
John, how did you come to terms with United doing the Treble?

Have you had to come to terms with being 'let go' by a partner?
What were your feelings at the time?
From personal experience, what advice would you give for those trying to 'move on' from a failed relationship of any sort?
