John Kenneth Galbraith Economist who has died aged 97.
JK Galbraith was Professor of Economics at Harvard University and played a prominent role in public life, working for the US government during the war, advising several Democrat Presidents, including John F Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. He was also acting US Ambassador to India in the 1960s.
His books include "American Capitalism: The Concept of Countervailing Power" published in 1952 and "The Affluent Society".
We hear from Michael De Cozar, Head Hall Porter at the Ritz Hotel in London where JK Galbraith stayed on his many visits to the Capital, Bill Clinton's Labor Secretary, Professor Robert Reich and Lord Roy Hattersley. An excerpt of one of his听letters to President Kennedy and from "The Affluent Society"听is read by Kerry Shale.

Jean-Francois Revel French philosopher who has died aged 82.
Revel was outspoken in his criticism of the anti-American stance taken by many French intellectuals.听 In his youth he regarded himself as a "Leftist" but following a visit to America in the 1970s he published "Without Marx or Jesus: the New American Revolution" which became a best seller.听 His writings included "Anti-Americanism" published in 2003 - and "The Monk and the Philosopher" - which was written in conjunction with his son Matthieu Ricard -听who is a Buddhist monk.
Clive James has just finished writing a 1000 page book about intellectuals of the twentieth century. He explains how Revel has influenced his own career.
Jean-Francois Revel was born on January 19th 1924 in Marseille. He died on April 29th 2006.

Anthony Camden Oboist nicknamed "the Whizzer" who has died aged 67.
Anthony Camden was principal oboe of the London Symphony Orchestra from 1972 to 1988 and founded the London Virtuosi听with James Galway and John Georgiadis.听 In 1988 he moved to Australia to become director of the Queensland Conservatorium.听听 In the 1990s he embarked upon a project which saw him record 36 concertos with accompaniment.听 This made him听one of the most recorded oboists .

Anthony Camden was born on April 26th 1938 and died on March 7th 2006.听 The LSO are dedicating this Sunday's concert to his memory.

Lewis Benjamin"Tuna Harrison Cromer lifeboat man who has died aged 93.
Lifeboat man听"Tuna" Harrison acquired his nickname because he would happily hum tunes as he went about his work as a fisherman. Tuna's grandfather and father served on the lifeboats and both his brothers followed the family tradition. He was part of the crew that included the famous coxswain Henry Blogg.
Tuna Harrison's death coincided with the opening of a new museum dedicated to the Cromer lifeboat crews.听 We hear from Tuna's son Lew, the museum head curator, Frank Muirhead, Chairman of Cromer Lifeboat, Tony Webster听and some of his lifeboat colleagues,
Richard Davies and听Andrew Freemantle and from听Ramon Arguelles who was six when he was rescued from the Cantabria by the crew of the Cromer Lifeboat.
