Panel
TOPICS
Changes in UK sea fish population
Will ice melt in The Alps affect diatoms in the sea?
A listener asks whether the melting of Alpine ice and changes to Alpine weathering will result in a reduction in the transportation of silica (essential to important diatoms) to the sea. The panel's conclusion was that reduction in the transportation of silica will more likely be caused by the construction of dams on Alpine rivers and not through changes to weathering processes.
