The impressive mouth of a sea lamprey! |
The Living World - In Search of Sea lampreys
The Living World encounters an animal that looks as though it鈥檚 more a creation of a Hollywood horror film, than of nature. The Sea lamprey is one of Britain rarest animals, eel like in appearance and as thick as your arm, but it鈥檚 the large sucking mouth with rings of razor sharp teeth that has made it the basis for beasties on the silver screen.
Lionel Kelleway takes a deep breath and dons his waders to join Lamprey expert Brian Morland on the river Ure to encounter these startling and mysterious creatures.听
