"The Living World is the next best thing to being there. Our contributors are skilled naturalists who are able to reveal those fascinating facts about animals and plants that you don't always find in books. It's like having a personal guided tour of the countryside, without needing to leave the house."

The Living World - Gothic Bats
Six of Britain鈥檚 native species of bat make their home in Woodchester Mansion, one of Britain鈥檚 most peculiar country houses. Designed at the height of the Victorian Gothic revival this Gloucestershire mansion feels like a mediaeval castle, abandoned by all but Lionel Kelleway, Roger Ransome and the bats he studies.
