Explore The Material World with the Creativity

This week's programme raises the curtain on the Radio 4 short season entitled Radio and the Artist.

Scientific philosophers Professor David Gooding from the University of Bath and Emeritus Professor Arthur Miller from UCL discuss the nature of creativity, how it can be defined, measured and encouraged.

We examine the overlap between scientific and artistic creativity and find out why Einstein may be considered the father of Minimalism and Picasso a leader in the field of reductionist geometry.

Artist Katie Clemson demonstrated creativity in action by making sketches inspired by this week's second topic.

Future Fission

As oil prices rise, nuclear energy's back in the news again. Is nuclear fission about to come back into fashion?

Quentin Cooper is joined by Physicist Professor Robin Grimes from London's Imperial College and Dr William Nuttall, lecturer in Technology Policy at Cambridge University to talk about the issues and the latest in nuclear power station technology from India and South Africa.
