0750 There are growing tensions between Britain and Russia over the murder of Alexander Litvinenko. We speak to Roman Schleinov of Novaya Gazeta, the Russian newspaper for which Anna Politskaya was working when she was murdered and Bridget Kendal.

0810 The American troop surge in Baghdad will reach its peak in the next few days. General Petraeus has said he'll reach some kind of judgement in early September about whether or not it has worked. We speak to Dr Zuhair al Nahar, the spokesman for the Shia Al daawa Party in London and Canon Andrew White.
0820 Britain may not be an obvious contender for award winning wine making but this year we've taken 21 medals in the International Wine Challenge and that's the highest number yet.

0830 We've had a huge response to yesterday's programme where we discussed the issue of paedophilia. Today we speak to 'Susan' who suffered at the hands of a paedophile and 'Norman' who went to jail for abusing his daughter.

0840 What would you choose as the book of the 20th century? Guardian readers took part in a poll for the Hay Festival and they chose George Orwell's 1984. We speak to John Mullan a professor of English at University College London.
0845 The Tories have been arguing this week that they are the true "heirs to Blair" when it comes to public service reform. To discuss the proposition we are joined by Dr Eamonn Butler Director of the Adam Smith Institute and Labour MP John Denham.
0852 Today is the 150th anniversary of Elgar's birthday.The quintessential English compose, but a great one? Not everyone thinks so. However we speak to Julian Lloyd Webber who does.

Don De Lillo Interview
The American writer Don de Lillo who wrote Underworld and is one of the biggest figures in modern American literature - has become a classic. A Penguin classic.听A great accolade, but usually one reserved for the dead. John interviewed him and asked what it's like to be thought of as a "classic"?
Mouloud Sihali Interview
Mouloud Sihali from Algeria, North Africa, is one of the suspected terrorists that听the Home Secretary wants to deport back to Algeria. Based on secret intelligence and police investigations, the Home Secretary has deemed Sihali a threat to the Nation's security. Last year Mouloud Sihali was found not guilty of being a part of a so called released Ricin plot.
The nominations for the Oscars were announced yesterday, and The Constant Gardener is tipped for a place on the shortlist. It stars Ralph Fiennes who picked up an Evening Standard Film Award this week for his role in the film. Polly Billington spoke him and to the author, John le Carre, about the film and its chances at the Oscars. (31/01/06)
