As the proud holder of the title "Count Dracula", Ottomar Rudolphe Vlad Dracula Prinz Kretzulesco is anxious to preserve his family name. Unfortunately he and his wife have not yet had any children. In an exclusive interview for "Today" from Castle Dracula in Berlin, the 61-year-old told us he and his wife are still trying for a baby but if they don't succeed, he would welcome applications from potential adoptees.
The Count was himself adopted into the Dracula family by a Romanian princess descended from the original Count. This is in keeping with the tradition among European nobility of adopting when there is no suitable blood relation. He was keen to stress that only nobility need apply, as he wants an heir who is worthy of the prestigious name. The Count is happy to consider applications from Britain - a country he holds in high esteem.
Born Ottomar Berbig, he was working as an antique dealer in Berlin in the late 1980s when he was approached by one of his regular customers, Katharina Olympia Caradja, a Romanian princess and blood relative of the original Count Dracula.
