| | | CABE How often have you walked past a piece of disused land in your area and thought that it could be put to better use?
A survey published today by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) reveals that there are 70,000 hectares of derelict and vacant land across England and Wales - that's an area the size of Greater London.
Much of the land is in the hand of developers, other parts are owned by local authorities. But in many cases the local community have strong feelings about how the land should be used - perhaps as a park, play area or community garden.
CABE and Radio4 are looking for Britain's most wasted space. If you would like to nominate somewhere in your area, .
Some of the nominations will be featured on You and Yours in the coming weeks, and in a month's time we'll announce the winner on the Today Programme.
