The stars of theÌýsilent films and cabarets at the turn of the 20th century.

Showgirls and burlesque dancers played a significant part in the emergence of cinema from 1894 to 1933. Films of that time featured stars of the stage, exotic dancing and flamboyant costumes.ÌýÌýJane is joined by Bryony Dixon, Curator of Silent Film from the British Film Institute and Claire Cooke, Producer of The Smoking Cabinet Festival of Early Cabaret Cinema, to discuss the roots of the early burlesque scene and some of those actresses that made it so popular.
