Female Prisoners of War

Maria Ring and her sister Vilma Howe spent years inside a Prisoner of War Camp in the Far East. Vilma was interned with her mother and brother in 1941. Maria was born in the camp. A new exhibition at the Imperial War Museum North looks back at the experiences of all POW鈥檚 in all conflicts, including the eighty thousand women and children held by the Japanese.
