Bringing up two boys in an all-male household

When the journalist Simon Carr’s wife Susie died of cancer in 1994, he was left raising his five year old son Alexander on his own. Soon after, his eleven year old son from a previous marriage came to live with them too. His few rules and ‘just say yes’ approach inspired a best selling memoir. Ten years on, it is now the inspiration for a major film starring Clive OwenÌý- ‘The Boys Are Back’.ÌýSimon joins Jane to talk about the film, father-son relationships, and the merits of his parenting approach.

The Boys Are Back Is released in cinemas 22nd January.

The Boys Are Back by Simon Carr is published by Arrow Books Ltd ISBN-13 978-0099547389
