Maternity Matters 27 January 2010
Newborn baby
Have the 2009 targets beenÌýmet?

The Government promised high quality maternity care across England by the end of 2009. Their ‘Maternity Matters’ strategy guarantees all expectant mothers choices around how to access maternity care, the type of antenatal care, place of birth and post natal care. Reporter Judy Merry talks to a group of mothers in Lancashire about their experience of maternity care. To discuss the extent to which the guarantees are now in place, Jenni is joined by Professor Cathy Warwick, General Secretary of the Royal College of Midwives, Pat O’Brien, Consultant Obstetrician and spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Belinda Phipps, Chief Executive of the NCT, and Health Minister Ann Keen.
