Donna Dickenson, Spinoza Lens award winner 03 Mar听2006
Donna Dickenson, Professor of Medical Ethics and Humanities at Birkbeck College, London,听has just become the first woman to win the prestigious Spinoza Lens award. The Spinoza series of awards are well known in the scientific community and this particular award recognises commitment to furthering public debate on ethics.

Professor Dickenson is an expert on a wide variety of medical ethics issues surrounding death and dying, the patenting of the human genome, informed consent and face and hand transplants, the use of women's tissues in stem cell research and reproductive rights.

Ritula Shah will be talking to Prof Dickenson about her distinguished career and her concerns about the use of women's eggs in stem cell research, and the way private companies are encouraging mothers to store cord blood produced during labour.
