International
Asian women on the Forbes power list 07 Sep 2007
The Asian women enjoying unprecedented global influence

When Forbes business magazine published its听2007 list of the world鈥檚 100 most powerful women, it听placed Asians in four of the top six positions. Wu Yi, the vice-premier of China and听Ho Ching, chief executive of Singapore鈥檚 state-owned investment company Temasek, were听both ranked higher听than the US secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice. So what is behind the increasing influence of听this small group of Asian women? And,听what does听it say about the position of women听at large,听in Asia and the Far East?

Ritula听talks to Dr Yiyi Lu, associate fellow at the international affairs think tank Chatham House, and Dr Shailaja Fennell, lecturer in development studies at the University of Cambridge.
