Breast
Breast Cancer: Reconstructive Surgery 23 Oct 2007
The pros and cons of reconstructive surgery

Breast reconstruction is an operation to try to restore the shape of the breast after mastectomy (removal of a breast), or lumpectomy (removal of part of the breast). Most women who have a mastectomy听can have a reconstruction, either at the same time or later. But reconstruction can involve major surgery, and some women find that they become used to living without a breast and decide against a reconstruction.

Jenni talks to Fran Griffiths who decided to have reconstructive surgery after her mastectomy, and to Jennifer Gapp who decided not to. They are joined by Jackie Lewis, a breast surgeon at Charing Cross Hospital in London.
