French Women Chefs 21ÌýDec 2007
Women make it to the top in French cuisine.

2007 has been a landmark year for women chefs in France. The eight thousand chefs listed in France’s all-powerful Michelin guide elected a woman as their Chef of the Year for the first time since the prize was created twenty years ago. And that same chef – Anne-Sophie Pic - also became the first French woman in forty years to win a maximum three Michelin stars. Meanwhile another woman has become the first to win the Best French Cook prize. John Laurenson reports on a sexual revolution taking place in France’s top kitchens.
