The botanical painter best known for her portraits of young women
Dod Procter is perhaps best known for her botanical paintings which can still be found on greetings cards. But the Newlyn artist was once best known for her portraits of young women, often nudes. In the 1920s, Dod Procter was one of the most famous artists in the country and her painting 鈥楳orning鈥 was bought by the Daily Mail for the nation, after it featured in the Royal Academy鈥檚 summer show. Recently her paintings returned to her native Cornwall. Fiona Clampin meets Alison Bevan, from the Penlee House Museum and Art Gallery in Penzance to hear about Dod鈥檚 career and her connection to Cornwall.
