There’s growing concern about the phenomenon of so-called ‘corrective rape’ In South Africa – this is where lesbians are attacked by men who believe that they will be able to make them heterosexual through acts of sexual violence. One of the nation’s most celebrated female footballers was killed by a gang last year. We find out why many feel these assaults must be recognised as ‘hate crimes’ by the Government.
