The only woman involved in co-ordinating the troop landings
Next weekend marks the 65th anniversary of D-Day – the operation which saw thousands of Allied troops landing on the beaches of northern France.ÌýPlanning for the campaign took nearly two years and was carried out with great secrecy. Elizabeth Norman was in her early 20s when she started work at the Cabinet War Rooms, and was the only woman in the advance planning team. She talks to Felicity Finch about life at that time, and about being part of the team which prepared for the historic day.
