The decorating DIY trend seems to be over. DIY stores recently reported a sharp fall in profits and it seems we are no longer willing to do it ourselves. Instead we're back to paying for a man who can do it for us. But who decides just what colour the marital bedroom should be, and is it plumped floral cushions that dominate the living rooms of British suburbia?
