Slug Hell 20 MarchÌý2008
Slugging it out; why we should be kinder to slugs.

They have twenty seven thousand teeth, they are the gardeners number one enemy … and with the arrival of spring, the number of slugs will only increase. They munch through pretty much anything and the methods of killing them have become ever more ingenius – from slug pubs and salt, through to slug eating worms and of course, poisonous pellets. Anne Beswick is a gardener who says we need to rethink our attitude to slugs .. work with them rather than against them. She’ll be joining us, along with Lucy Halsall from Amateur Gardener – a confirmed slug hater.
