Providing support to ensure sexual health and well-being
Winifred Foley grew up in the 1920’s in the small isolated village of Brierlyin the Forest of Dean. It was aworld of unspoilt beauty but also hardship. She first started writing about herchildhood when she was nearly 60 and heard a radio appeal for personal histories. This resulted in her story being serialised on Woman’s Hour back in 1972. Sadly, Winifred died recently at the age of 94, but, in an interview for the programme, recorded shortly before her death, she talked to Felicity Finch about her writing, and about the village of her childhood.
