There's nothing quite so English in a garden as the sight and scent of a clump of lavender in full bloom. It's been a popular plant in this country for centuries, ever since the Romans introduced it. It smells fantastic and has a wide range of uses both cosmetic and medicinal. Katherine Swift grows several varieties of lavender at The Dower House at Morville Hall so she can enjoy the flowers all year round.
