Protecting the interests of the vulnerable

New changes to the Mental Capacity Act 2005known as “Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards”, came into force in April. These changes aim to protect the vulnerable, for example an eldery woman with dementia being forcibly taken from the family home by police and social services.Bernadine Kennedytalks aboutthe pressure she came under from Social Services to place her 95 year old mother in a care home.To discuss the rights of the family Jane is joined by Daniel Blake from Action on Elder Abuse and Ruth Cartwright from the British Association of Social Workers.
