An important step for women in the Islamic Republic

The new Health Minister, Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi was one of eighteen nominations for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad鈥檚 new cabinet to be approved - two other women were rejected. Marzieh says her selection as health minister is an 'important step' for Iranian women. To discuss her appointment and what it means for women in Iran, Jane is joined by Kasra Naji special correspondent for 大象传媒 Persian Television and Ziba Mir-Hosseini the Iranian anthropologist and Researcher at the Centre of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law, at SOAS, University of London. |
