At a recent conference held in Birmingham by the Brittle Bone Society it was suggested that there may have been a number of cases of false accusation of abuse when in fact the child is suffering from brittle bone disease.
Claudia Hammond went to meet a family in North London who found themselves in such a situation - their baby was eventually adopted after it was found to be suffering from broken ribs and bruising.
And Jenni discusses the issues with Maggie Eaton, Founder of the Accused Parents Support Group which helps families facing allegations of abuse and Jane Held, Director of Social Services in the London borough of Camden.
