When the cookery writer, Claudia Roden, was cast away on Radio 4's desert island this summer (along with her eight records, the bible and Shakespeare) she talked about the importance of food, friends and family.
She was born into a Jewish family in Egypt, who fled to London after the Suez crisis in 1956.
And it's a part of her heritage she continues to protect. The culture in which Claudia Roden grew up means that she remembers her mother's biscuit tin always being full of sweet pastries.
They're called Ma'amoul and are a perfect accompaniment to a cup of coffee. Anna McNamee drops in to find out how to make them.
