Later this week, a public inquiry will look into the death of Victoria Climbie.

Victoria was a young girl, originally from the Ivory Coast, who died from terrible injuries after suffering months of abuse at her adopted home in London.
At the trial of her relatives, who were jailed for life, social workers were accused of "blinding incompetence".
The inquiry is likely to focus on the failings of social workers. At a time of severe staff shortages and an increase in the number of referrals, how does the profession need to change its role?
Clare Fox, Institution of Ideas, and Mark Ivory, Deputy Editor of Community Care, join in the discussion.
