The history of flower arranging Wednesday 31 October 2001
We have picked flowers and decorated our homes with them for centuries, but it wasn't until after the accession of William and Mary in 1668, that flower arranging moved from simple nosegays to seriously constructed, fashion conscious arrangements.

In the first of a series tracing the history of flower arranging, Corinne Julius met Daphne Vagg, a past President of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies, and Mary Rose Blacker, a social historian.
Mary Rose Blacker is author of Flora Domestica - A History of British Flower Arranging 1500 - 1930 (Harry N Abrams, ISBN: 0810967030).
