Sue Townsend is best known for her teenage creation - Adrian Mole who began his life in print at 13 and three quarters and went on and on.

She's a prolific writer of novels, plays and contemporary satire - she also writes a monthly column in Sainsbury magazine.
She's brought the best together in a volume called The Public Confessions of a Middle-Aged Woman Aged 55 戮.
When she began writing them some ten years ago she vowed not to mention her husband, family, cats, dogs or quotes from taxi drivers in her columns. Jenni asks her whether she succeeded.
The Public Confessions of a Middle-Aged Woman Aged 55 戮 (Michael Joseph, ISBN: 0718145380, 拢14.99).
