Mincemeat Friday 21 December 2001
Next week sees the return of those Ladies of Letters Vera and Irene in a festive bonanza entitled Ladies of Letters Make Mincemeat.

Martha discusses mincemeat with Ruth Watson who fancies herself as the best mince pie maker in the world, and Elizabeth Hodder, author of The Book of Old Tarts.
She also finds out why you're supposed to eat a mince pie every day between Christmas and New Year and why Oliver Cromwell banned mince pies for being 'monstrous, intolerable and unchristian.'
Read Ruth Watson's recipe for Deep-Fried Mincemeat and Ice-Cream Parcels.
The Really Helpful Cookbook by Ruth Watson (Ebury Press, ISBN: 0-091-88538-8, 拢14.99)
The Book of Old Tarts by Elizabeth Hodder (Headline, ISBN: 0747221057, 拢14.99)
