Sylvia Pankhurst , once the scourge of Britain's male establishment for demanding that women get the vote, was to be honoured with a statue of her on College Green, outside the Houses of Parliament.
However, there's been a counter-bid from fans of the sculptor Auguste Rodin, who want his sculpture The Burghers of Calais to occupy the prime spot outside the Commons.
Sheila McClennon talks to Mary Davis, an historian and biographer of Pankhurst, and a member of the Pankhurst Memorial Committee. Sylvia Pankhurst, A Life In Radical Politics by Mary Davis (Pluto Press, ISBN: 0745315186)
