Jewish Women in the 21st century |

According to a report produced this week, Judaism treats its female members as second-class citizens. Moving On: Jewish Women in the 21st century is a follow up to a major report produced at the instigation of the chief Rabbi in 1994.
In this earlier report, Rabbi Sacks recommended that large scale social changes were necessary if women were to return to synagogues. Particular bones of contention are the arcane rules surrounding divorce and remarriage.
But how far has the report gone in alleviating some of the exclusion that Jewish women feel and do they feel they have won a greater role in their religion. Jenni is joined by the reports author, Dianne Webber and Lyndsay Simmonds, the Chief Rabbi's advisor on women's issues.
